Welcome to Early Childhood CARES
Early Childhood CARES provides early intervention and early childhood special education services to infants, toddlers, and preschool children in Lane County. Over 1,600 children with developmental delays or disabilities are served each year. Services are individualized to address the special needs of each child. Parents/ guardians are active members of their child’s educational team. There is no cost for our services.
Our providers are licensed or authorized professionals with specializations in the areas of early intervention/early childhood special education, speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Early Childhood CARES is part of the College of Education at the University of Oregon and a subcontractor of Lane Education Service District (ESD). We are funded by the Oregon Department of Education with state and federal dollars.

Who should be referred?
Any child age birth to five who may have developmental concerns may be referred to Early Childhood CARES. Areas of concern may include: speech and language, motor, behavior, social skills, learning, vision, & hearing. Referrals can come from anyone. The most common referrals come from parents, preschool teachers, physicians, or other public agencies.
