Refer a Child

Who can refer a child?
Referrals can come from anyone. Parents and guardians may refer their own children. Child care providers, physicians, nurses, educators, or anyone else concerned about a child’s development may also refer a child, with consent from that child’s family.

Who should be referred?
Any child in Lane County age birth to five who may have developmental concerns may be referred. Areas of concern may include speech and language, motor, behavior, social skills, learning, vision and/ or hearing.
Parents, child care providers, physicians, educators and anyone else concerned about development should complete an Ages and Stages Questionnaire and use the results to engage in conversation with families before proceeding with referral. You should never refer a child without family consent.
